The focus of the Employment Work Group quality improvement project is to gather and share information about employment for people with disabilities. The work group will identify resources and best practices to provide opportunities for people with disabilities to be included in the workplace.
In 2021, the percentage of Minnesota people with cognitive disabilities who were employed was 47. 7%. The percentage of people without disabilities that were employed was 83.5%. With the emphasis on eliminating subminimum wage, more people are looking for work outside of sheltered workshops. Employers are looking for people to work. We suggest people with disabilities are willing and able to fill some of those positions.
