The goal of this project is to develop plain language user-friendly materials incorporating Positive Behavior Supports and Person-Centered Principals & Practices philosophies to explain the importance and benefits of these models to service recipients, service providers/agencies, and direct support professionals.

The Arrowhead Regional Quality Council has recognized a knowledge gap between agencies promoting Positive Behavioral Supports and Person-Centered Principals and Practices and those who are utilize their services; along with those tasked with implementing these concepts like direct support professionals. To bridge this gap the Arrowhead Regional Quality Council will form three workgroups to represent the Arrowhead region of Minnesota held in Grand Marais, Iron Range, and Duluth/Cloquet area. These workgroups will comprise of self-advocates and people with disabilities who will develop plain language materials targeted toward their peers and staff, available in various formats, explaining Positive Behavioral Supports and Person-Centered Practices, along with the uses and importance of the concepts in living the lives they choose.
