How did you get involved with the Regional Quality Council and The Arc?
I taught in the public schools for three years from 2020-2023, and while teaching, a desire to create positive change at a larger, societal scale grew in me. It was clear when I first learned about the Regional Quality Council and The Arc (from a simple social media post!) that this was somewhere I could affect change while working in a person-centered environment. There is a great amount of work to be done in disability advocacy, and I love championing the voices of people with disabilities to lead us forward!
What people appreciate about me:
- People around me like the positivity I bring into their lives. There’s nothing I love more than bringing energy to a meeting, gathering, or event.
- I work hard and have a lot of passion for everything I do.
- The knowledge and expertise I bring.
- My problem-solving and willingness to learn new things.
What is most important to me:
- The people around me and how I can positively affect them. I especially love helping people grow into their fully authentic selves.
- That the people around me feel empowered to complete their goals, whatever they may be.
- Honesty and clarity are also important to me at work, and I do my best to be both honest and clear to my coworkers.
- Working to change the systems that are present in our community, state, and country for the better. It is also important that the people in those systems are able to live rich, fruitful lives and that they have a place at the table.
- Working with young people, as I love helping youth along their journey.
- That we love the people around us and lead lives of understanding and compassion rather than judgment.
